Slimes spawn in specific chunks, so-called “slime chunks”, on a height level of 39 or less, and with any light levels.

Here, the slime spawn rule in Minecraft Bedrock (not Java edition) is briefly explained for those who are not familiar with it. The minimap might be unstable when you move over chunks and/or move very fast.

The code calculates slime chunks every ~2 seconds to reduce the workload.
